The term "British Isles" should not be used as it is not recognised by the Irish Government. Thus it should not be used as a Geographical term (nor a political term). I realise this topic has been discussed but I see no reason why a controversial name like that needs to be used. The term "Britain and Ireland" or other terms can be used. I am not sure there is another case where a geographical unit has been named on wikipedia where one of the countries does not recognise the name. For example the name "Gulf of Mexico" has been kept with for most audiences and "Gulf of America" inserted in brackets. The term British Isles should be removed. 140.203.210.213 (talk) 08:25, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
